What on Earth is Gangnam Style?

I am so excited to learn to dance this latest dance craze hitting the charts called the "Gangnam Style" by the Korean Dance Solo artist PSY. Its slowly creeping the dance charts in the USA. Even Britney Spears loved the video and the dance steps.

Here in the Philippines it was informally introduced to us through the ABS-CBN Channel 2's noontime show It's Showtime by the Unkaboggable Vice Ganda. I caught him dancing the steps and I was intrigued by it and the beat sounds excitingly dancable. Thank God for Google I discovered it is a new music from a then unknown Psy.

The  uploaded video in youtube has already gone viral. According to VH1 when twitter head of music Tatiana Grace has tweeted this video, viewership rose up to 12 million in two weeks. And as of this writing the video has garnered almost 71 million hits already! It is now the No.1 most popular video on Youtube!

Psy is actually in the dance music business for over 5 years now since 2007 and Gangnam Style is included in their 6th album already entitled PSY6. In 2010 they took a 2 year break from the music biz and just July this year they are back. And this time they hit it big time with this hit Gangnam Style.

And as of this moment the dance hit has reached the No.44 rank in the US Itunes "Top 100 Song Chart" as of August 28th. This is the greatest advance by a Korean artist in all of history, and Psy was previously in No.56 just 2 days prior of August 26th. Wow, what a feat!

Well the question is who the hell is PSY and what on earth is Gangnam? According to wikipedia Psy or Park Jae Sang in real life is a South Korean K-Pop Star known for his sense of humor - during concerts he'll sometimes perform as a famous Female Korean Star. He graduated from Boston University and attended Berklee College of Music, but his music is considered somewhat controversial in his native Korea; He was fined for his first album, "Psy from the Psycho World" for promoting inappropriate content not suited for underage listeners. So his second album was banned. The Gangnam district is an upper-middle district in Seoul, Korea. The place Gangnam is the Plastic-Surgery Capital of Seoul, Korea. Celebrities frequent that place more often, and thus considered an overly-priced expensive place to go in Korea.

Well going back to the dance craze...I am as excited as Britney Spears to learn the basics of the dance step of this music! Since I am a teacher I sometimes teach my students some dance moves. Hey I am not a professional dancer but I have got the moves! Haha. So I am going to search some more dance steps and my students will be dancing the Gangnam Style dance moves soon!

What is it with today's fashion designers, stylist, and photographers! Yes all of them are involved in this new movement in fashion. Try typing "CREEPY FASHION" on google image and there it will unfold ghastly scary models wearing gowns and styling as if they just risen from the grave of a victorian era cemetery. They are so CREEPY and SCARY! And please take note of the models, female models at that, they are getting thinner and thinner. Whiter and whiter. Skeletonish than ever! Samples of this kind of fashion is inserted in this article. I think they call this kind of fashion photography as "MACABRE FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY". Which basically means "suggesting horror of death or decay; gruesome", "shockingly repelant, inspiring horror"! Yup that's the key word there...HORROR! I mean look at these pictures here. aren't they horrifying. That's right, these models look like they came out as character from a horror movie. they have all the elements of a horror movie! They have bats. Zombies, ghouls. Devil looking girls with horns.They have corpse looking brides. They have white lady ghost. They have have beasts. They have skeletons, creepy vintage dolls. everything that these super hyperactive brains can produce.

What can I say...the last fashion movement I knew of was the during the early 2000's the where models are made to wear torn jeans...denim. Models have normal make, you know lipstick and all...Guess jeans models were the in-thing then with black and white photos of sexy men and women.

I wonder why did fashion turn to this thing, Macabre Haute Couture. What is happening in our world? Who is buying all these stuff? Who is the main brain for all these ghoulishness? Where is fashion direction going to? 

Booooh!!!!

Let me guess after this movement in fashion next in line is massacre haute couture! Death-in-hell-couture. CSI murder-she -wrote-style fashion.

What else?

I am beginning to see that the end times are truly coming. Why? Because of these images that we see everyday. DEATH. The image of death is everywhere. And it is in fashion now. It is seen on TV. It is seen in movies, which by the way horror movies are getting grossingly scary and reealistic everyday! Death in print ads. Death, death, death!

Why is death the in-thing now? Are we getting tired of seeing life! The colors of a wonderful morning. The smile of a beautiful girl! The glowing healthy skin of a young woman. The bright eyes of a happy person! Where is that now? Why do these so called beauty experts in photography and fashion give us these deathdifying images!

Obviously this is is the work of the devil! Yes blame the devil, Satan! He is behind all these. We must rebuke these dark images. We must not buy magazines with these images. We must not watch movies with these themes. We must not watch TV shows with death as a theme. Let us STOP these non-sense.

Moreover let us appreciate life! The beauty of life given to us by God! The life Jesus Christ gave to us on the cross. The life God the Father gave to us through Jesus Christ his son!

Life! not death. And that's my message.

Tayong mga Pinoy ay may kakaibang tatak sa ating kultura at paraan ng pamumuhay na matatawag nating tunay na SARILING ATIN! Halimbawa ang pagsabi ng "Po" at "Opo" Pinoy lang ang may ganyan. Ang paggamit natin ng Tabo pag naliligo. Pag-yuko pag dumadaan sa harap ng TV pag may nanonood. Pinoy na Pinoy yan. Ang pagkahilig natin sa Karaoke este Videoke pala. Dahil ang mg Pinoy ay mahilig kumanta. Ang pagkahilig natin sa Toyo at kung ano-ano pang sawsawan pag kumakain, nakow, Pinoy yan! Ang pagkain ng nakakamay lamang habang nakataas ang isang paa sa bangko, Pinoy na Pinoy yan! Ang pag sabi natin ng "actually" at "You Know" na akala natin ay ang lakas na ng dating natin na mag ingles pag kasama sa pangungusap ang mga ito. Ano pa ba? Ang panonood ng mga teleserye sa gabi, libangang Pinoy yan. Eto pa yung pagkahilig natin sa Text at Facebook at kung ano pang latest; meron tayo nyan!!! Pinoy yan! Mayroon din naman tayong mga di-kagandahang ugali na dapat nating palitan ng maganda at dapat na nating tuluyang iwasan. Ano ang mga ito? Yung walang pagrestpeto sa oras ng iba. Ito young tinatawag nating Filipino Time. Yung bang ang katagpo mo dalawang oras nang late sa usapan nyo at pag dating tatawa-tawa pa na parang walang nangyari? Sarap kalbuhin ang mga ganon di po ba?! Ano pa, Yung lagi tayong umaasa sa libre at mura. Aminin. FIRST PERIODIC EXAMS FINALLY DONE AND OVER WITH!!!

Finally the first periodic exams in Psalmshill Christian Learning Center is done and over with today. All exams were taken by the students. The next step is checking the test papers. oh yes. It does not end there. After checking the test papers is the computation of grades. After the computation is the making of the class cards. then distribution of class cards. still a lot of work to do. But see I can still smile about it. Well this is the life of a teacher. Its a tough job but somebody's gotta do it. No one but us the teachers. How I wish all teachers do is just teach and the checking of test papers and computation of grades is done by another person. Wishful thinking I guess. That will not be possible. Because if somebody else computes the grade we might have some problem as to the accuracy of the grades. Grades computation is the sole responsibility of the teacher. No one else. So I have no right to complain. I have no right to grumble. I choose to be a teacher and I have to do my duties 100%. No ifs. No Buts!

I wonder who will be this period's first honor in my classes. Will they be the same as last years honor rolls or a new honor roll will happen this period? I am so excited. 

Oh yeah after the exams the school will take effect the Buwan ng Wika celebration. So we will be practicing our Filipino Dances again with Filipino Folk Songs. Complete with costumes and all. The kids are so excited about it already.

Well I'll just end here for a while. I will be updating you as to the results of the Grades computation on who landed on the Top Honors for this grading period. Okay?

PLAGIARISM (GAYA-GAYA) TRENDING IN THE PHILIPPINES?

Plagiarism is a big insult to the Filipinos.

I am bothered by this latest development happening in our country's  government and the entertainment industry. Plagiarism seems like a normal thing already.

The first big issue on plagiarism was the Department of Tourism's Pilipinas Kay Ganda logo which they admitted was BASED on the Polska logo. Based is used but not copied. Where if you put both logo side by side...they really look the same. This is so sad why? Because the government is paying millions of pesos to pay this people with peoples money to be creative and all they give us are copies of other people's work. That is the greatest insult of the decade. Insult to the Filipino people. Insult to people they copied their work at and insult to these so-called creative people with high paying jobs who, are expected to produce original works but succumbed to copying.

Another big blow in the morale of the Filipinos is the outright copying  of Senator Tito Sotto's privilege speech against the RH Bill from an article of a Blogger named Sarah Pope. All I can say about it is this. Why copy? He is an opinionated person why not say his OWN opinion about the issue? Why resort to copying? which is the cheapest form of writing. Does his own opinion does not matter. He is a senator and he should be highly knowledgeable about this bill. You can never go against something if you do not know what it is all about.The big question there is "WHY DID YOU COPY?" Again we pay this senator people's money to create laws and implement them. NOT TO COPY.

And then there's this movie coming out this August 29 (I think). It is called Guni-guni. It is a horror movie produced by Regal Films. Regals Films has been in the Film Business since time immemorial (the 70's i think). They have made TONS of movies and most of them are big hits especially in the 80's and 90's. They discovered stars that became Big Names in the industry now, like Maricel Soriano, Gabby Concepcion, Aubrey Miles. They made big movies like Shake Rattle and Roll and the like. And this latest movie they did which is Guni-guni. A suspense thriller. They copied the poster of an Indonesian horror movie entitles alone. The copying is so obvious from the color scheme to the actual subject of the poster. Mother Lily, the movie outfit's producer, paid hundreds of thousands or even millions of pesos to produce a movie. Now why would you pay millions for a non-original work?

Plagiarism is an outright insult. Stop insulting your public. Stop Insulting the Filipino people. Stop insulting yourselves. BE ORIGINAL!!!

AN UPDATE ON PLAGIRISM

Here's an update on Senator Tito Sottos speech...this is just in today. I know Mr. Sotto hasn't recovered yet from his last mishap from the plagiarism issue from Miss Pope. Well it seems this same Senator hasn't parked his pen yet from copying. Another netizen (thank God for them) has discovered that the Senator Tito Sotto copied from another source and tagalized the english speech of the poor guy. I am talking about THE late US Senator Robert F. Kennedy. I have a photo here that captures the tagalog speech of Sotto and the english speech of Kenndy and my gosh the contents are exactly the same only Senator Sotto's speech is in tagalog. Wow thats a double whammy! Boom! Boom! Double blow insult to the Filipino people. I wish this will stop. Let us be original! Please. Let us continue guarding our dignity. Thank you for all the people who make an effort to investigate this. Thank you for the internet, we now have easy access to search and research real quick. Filipinos! Let us continue to be very vigilant especially to these elected Public Officials who are suppose to do their jobs. Original Jobs. Not copied jobs! Let us not vote them again. PLEASE!

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING 46?

Being 46. Boon or bane?

Oh yeah! I am turning the big four-six EXACTLY a month from today! I still could not believe i am in that mature age already. Being in this age is full of responsibility. And based on observation from other 46 year old guys out there full of stress and problems. But what's good for me is I am enjoying my life right now. The life God gave me is the life that I really wanted. God's plan for me is so good I am experiencing it right now. And I am happy with everything that's been happening with my life right now and for the years to come. I don't feel the pressure of getting older and older every year. I thought turning 45 last year was the worst? but it turned out great. Now I am leaving my 45th year and moving on my 46th year. I don't know what to expect with this new year of my life. But I have full trust and faith with God. I know he will not leave me no matter what age I may be.           

         
46. I am only four tumbling away from being 50. WOW!!! me at fifty? Only 4 measly years away? That will be 2016? I wonder how I would be? How I would look like when I am already 50 years old? will I look older? How will I think? How will I talk? How will my career will be? Will I get married? have kids? So many questions?

Its not for me to know for now. All I know for now is I am 46 years old this year 2012. What will happen four years from now when I turn 50 is all up to God. Because my future, my life, I gave it all in God's care already. I do not worry about it anymore. Thank you Lord.
